Victory At Last NJC Suspends Justice Talba Who Freed Pension Thief

Following the outcry of many Nigerians, including reputable activists, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Mariam Aloma Mukhtar, has approved the suspension of Justice Abubakar Talba of the FCT High Court.

He was suspended for 12-month without pay as a result of the controversial judgement he delivered in respect of Mr. John Yusufu who was prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, for stealing about N32.8billion from the Police Pension.

Mr. Yusufu, who pleaded guilty to three-counts of theft of the pension funds, was jailed two years on each count; but Justice Talba asked him to pay a RIDICULOUS fine of N250,000 and go home.

You may wish to know that Yusuf has been rearrested and his standing trial on fraud-related matters.
we hope this sends a signal to corrupt judges in Nigeria
