Gov. Amosun Shuts Out Three Commissioners, Civil Servants For Lateness

At least three commissioners as well as scores of civil servants were locked out on Monday by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for resuming work late.

The lock-out order of the governor was executed by the Head of Service, Modupe Adekunle and Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, who personally supervised locking of the gates.

It was gathered that the two top government officials commenced the locking of the gates leading to the secretariat at Oke-Mosan, where the governor’s office is also situated at the stroke of 8:00am accompanied by armed policemen.

Based on civil service rules, workers are expected to officially resume in their various offices by 7:30am, Monday to Friday but due to lack of proper monitoring, most workers often stroll in at their convenience as was witnessed in the Oke Mosan scenario where a number of the latecomers were seen loitering outside the gate trying to ascertain the consequences of their late coming.

It was further learnt that instructions were given to the most senior officers in various ministries who arrived on time, to compile names of those late to work to enable the authorities identify the culprits for necessary disciplinary action based on the civil service rules.

A government official who pleaded not to be named said the fate of the commissioners would be determined by the governor himself.
