The Federal Government of Nigeria has released the sum of N300 millionfor capacity building in Nollywood. This is part of a N3 billion intervention fund earlier pledged by President Goodluck Jonathan to Nollywood. This presidential initiative is now formally known as Project ACT Nollywood(ACT is an acronym for Advancing Creativity and Technology).
One half of the capacity building fund has been designated for training and skills acquisition in areas such as acting, scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, editing, production, production design, special effects, lighting, sound, and make-up.
The other half of the capacity building fund has been designated for existing local private institutes that offer training courses, programmes and technical certification in the movie industry.
Application for the capacity building fund is open from July through December 2013.
