Bishop David Benenoch of Communion Church has shocked most of his congregation during a Sunday Service on September 15th 2012 that he was divorcing his wife, Esther Benenoch because it was an instruction from God. Many wondered on what basis did God ask him to send his wife away.
He even filed a divorce petition against his wife in court. But the story has now changed...
Bishop Benenoch is now singing a different song; he doesn't want to divorce his wife again. He said they have decided to seek prayer solution to their marital challenges. In his words:
"On Saturday the 15th of September last year, I announced my decision to file for a divorce to end my marriage to my wife, Esther. I wish to inform you my friends that Esther and I have decided to seek prayer solution to the challenges of our relationship.
"We are no more pursuing the divorce option at this time. I therefore have since withdrawn my divorce petition from the court.
"I thank you for your support, your concern and your prayers. I urge you to continue to keep us both in your prayers. Once again, thank you and God bless you."
Only unbelieving to the truth of the Bible can declare to divorce a wife without accurate scriptural knowledge. Jesus made clear that marriage was to be permanent when he answered a question put to him about the propriety of divorce. He stated: “Did you not read that [God] who created them from the beginning made them male and female and said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’? So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart.”—Matthew 19:4-6.
ReplyDeleteGod, the Originator of marriage, designed it to be a permanent union. But is there any Scriptural reason for a person to divorce his or her mate—and one that would allow for the possibility of remarrying? Jesus addressed this matter by declaring: “I say to you that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery.” (Matthew 19:9) Sexual infidelity by a mate is the only ground for a divorce that will allow the innocent mate to remarry.
